Ecocilia: Cecilia's love of nature

Ecophilia (n) - the love of and desire to connect with nature.

I am an artist and restoration ecologist, and my goal is to create community in nature.

As someone who values the connection I have formed with nature and the world around us, I strive to create art and conversation that helps others to find that meaningful connection themselves.

As a restoration ecologist, my work is focused on restoring the natural processes and ecosystem services offered in nature.

I use upcycled materials and collected litter to create works of nature inspired art, the sale of which allows for continued research and remediation efforts.

Bio-remediation sculptures are created using materials sourced from or inspired by the natural world.

I have dedicated years of research into designing larger works of biological art that are meant to fulfill a role in the environment they occupy. In the spirit of supporting accessible science, my research is shared online free of charge, and I welcome scientific inquiry and collaboration.

In addition, I encourage a lifestyle filled with environmentally mindful activities such as safe wildlife observation, cooking with locally grown produce, and more.

It is important to recognize not only our place in nature, but the emotional value derived from it.

My work is an open love letter to the world that I hope all can enjoy and learn from.

Who I am

I feel that my work and art is very personal and representative of who I am and what my values are. I strive to always improve my own skills and knowledge base to better my work and become a more reliable environmental steward.

I believe that human connection is an important part of the environmental art movement, and I hope that my work allows me to connect with you.
